Highschool Sweetheart

“Why didn’t you ever tell me?” her eyes began to water as I took a step closer.

“Tell you what?” she looked up at me with a sense of hope.

“..that you loved me” His smile faded.

“Marry me.” I whispered

“What?”

I swallowed “Marry me” and he looked at me with sorrow.

“Please….”

As I layed back in my chair at the dealership, I could hear an altercation from my window.

“NO No! I need one that has a sunroof.” I heard a feminine voice demand.

I saw my employee Mark trying to win over the customer with his charm.

“Ma’am this one is just as good, and it has butterfly doors”

“I DON’T CARE IF IT HAS BIRD DOORS!” Her voice now raspy.

“I better head out.” I exhaled.

“Hey..hey…hey.” with each hey getting softer as I looked at a familiar face. I glared for a minute to make sure my eyes weren’t lying. Her hair was ashy black with curls and her eyes a deep brown like I remembered.

“Carina?” I whispered as she looked at me confused. “Carina Colley?”

Her eyes lit up “Oh my…god, Michael? She paused “Michael Ward! She yelled. “How have you been?”

“Great…I..I am doing good,” I stuttered.

“We should catch up, it’s been forever.”

“Yes, I can’t believe your back…” I helped her browse through our selection of cars.

“He will never love you, like he loves me. You are a clone, a generic brand, a cheap knockoff. When his fucking you, his thinking of me.”  (I winked)

She growled as she used the back of her head to hit my nose.

“Bitch!” I exclaimed

“Stop! STOP!!” two guys jumped into the ring to pull us off eachother.

I shrugged him off, stared at her husband down as I ran out the door into the parking lot.

“Carina!” I heard a strong voice from behind me. I didn’t stop until he pulled my arm. I didn’t hesitate to slap him as hard as I could, as many times as I could as fast as I could.

“Tell her the truth!” I yelled as I continued beating him. The fact that he blocked all my blows just angered me more, until the tears came streaming down.  He tried to turn my back towards his front cradling me as I kept fighting “You don’t love her! You love me!”  Then I finally gave in.
